We promote and support the formation of local organizations of Indigenous and Creole producers with a special focus on women and youth. We strengthen their capacity to generate economic, social, cultural and environmental value; their autonomy, network collaboration, self management and sustainability.

Territory

Where do we work?

We have territorial presence in 6 provinces: Formosa, Chaco, Salta, Jujuy, Tucumán and Santiago del Estero. We work at a trinational level (Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay) with networks articulating different partners.

We promote a platform of multiple people and institutions of the Gran Chaco Americano that, since 2008, seeks to improve the visibility of the biome and promotes the empowerment of citizenship for collective action. It focuses on formulating sustainable development policies across all dimensions.

We promoted the start of a movement that enhances business models in the Gran Chaco region that advocate for sustainable, competitive and inclusive development through valuing natural and cultural capital, combining the innovation of local knowledge.

In 2018 we founded a network that empowers rural women in the country through the visualization and articulation of different realities so that the action is oriented towards sustainable development. It gathers small and big producers, entrepreneurs, business women, farmers, communicators, indigenous individuals, artisans, researchers, scientists, educators, professionals, officials, and directors.

We participate in the Global Leaders Program, a experiential-based global leadership initiative for senior executives from businesses, governments, and social sectors worldwide, aiming to transition them into global leaders of the future in their work and society. Through this program, we enhance our development and organization, as well as the initiatives we undertake in the territory.

Through the Red de Pastoralismo, in alliance with FAO and Redes Chaco, we collaborate in the building and systematization of key information to support the design of evidence based policies for sustainable pastoralism.

The W20 is the working group of feminist leaders in gender policy who work every year to build this agenda and deliver statements to the G20 leaders. We have been part of the W20 since 2018.

The animal husbandry based on mobile systems is known as Pastoralism. This activity involves millions of families globally and in our regions. Its contribution to food sovereignty and wealth generation for nations is not adequately recognized. In connection with the Red Global de Pueblos Pastores (WAMIP) at the international level, through events, technical actions, and advocacy in public policies, Fundación Gran Chaco participates and supports the strengthening of the pastoralism network at both local and international levels.

We take part in the Asociación Global EQUALS for Gender Equity in the Digital Era, a group engaged with cooperative leaders, governments, businesses, academic institutions, civil society and community groups around the globe. We promote gender equity in the technological sector, promoting access equality, the development of abilities and career opportunities for young and rural women.

Through this space we promote the value of healthy, good and clean food production connecting a global network of small producers, cooks, journalists and food industries to rescue traditional food and ancestral recipes, in order to enrich and combat the impoverishment of the daily diet.

GOVERNMENTAL PARTNERS

We coordinate our actions with various levels of the government with the aim of proposing models for inclusive and more effective public policies, as well as facilitating their implementation in the territories.

INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES

We devise scaling strategies for initiatives in the Gran Chaco at regional and global levels within the framework of South-South cooperation, generating insights and solutions for global issues.

PRIVATE BUSINESSES

We consider that private sector participation is key when it comes to thinking about economic development in the region, and reducing the impact of climate change.
