Empowering the Indigenous Peoples of the Argentine Gran Chaco for Territorial Governance, Biodiversity Conservation, and Ethno-Development

The initiative proposes that, through strengthened governance, communities be able to self-manage their territories, integrating ancestral knowledge with sustainable models that ensure both environmental conservation and long-term economic well-being.

Objectives

General:

To strengthen the indigenous peoples of the Argentine Gran Chaco through models of territorial governance that integrate biodiversity conservation with ethno-development strategies, protecting their territories and promoting the full exercise of their rights.

Specific Objectives:

1) Co-construction of sustainable governance: Design a participatory management model that guarantees autonomy, promotes gender justice, and ensures the active participation of young people, based on indicators of legitimacy, leadership, and performance.

2) Participatory Territorial Management Plans: Develop long-term (50-year) management plans that include sustainable forest use, the implementation of technology-supported monitoring systems, and community training for territorial administration.

3) Strengthening the Organizational Framework: Enhance advocacy capacities, the internal governance of grassroots organizations, and the economic autonomy of communities, highlighting the strategic role of women and youth in defending the territory and biodiversity.
